Remarkable Participation of 1200 Female Players in the Various Competitions of the Tournament

Dubai, UAE – The 12th edition of the “Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament” concluded successfully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, marking a significant milestone in promoting women’s sports in the region. Organized by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), this year’s tournament witnessed the remarkable participation of 1,200 female athletes from various governmental, semi-governmental, and private entities.

The tournament aims to foster female sports talent and encourage a culture of exercise among women. Competitors showcased their skills across eight individual and team sports, including bowling, running, cycling, padel, badminton, shooting, obstacle challenges, and 3 × 3 basketball.

In the 3 × 3 basketball competition held at Al-Nasr Sports Club, Dubai Police secured the top spot, followed closely by Dubai Municipality in second place and Dubai Customs in third. Dubai Police also dominated the obstacles challenge at Gravity Club in Al-Quoz, with the team of Shahad Younos, Mona Al-Wari, and Loredana Neruda taking first place. They were followed by Fatima Al-Marri, Shamma Al-Muhairi, and Afra Hareb in second, and the team from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, comprising Noura Al-Serah, Maitha Al-Bastaki, and Sarah Shahadi, finishing third.

The cycling competition, held at Al-Fursan Park in Expo City Dubai, saw Sheikha Essa from Dubai Police win first place in the locals’ category, with Aisha Folad from Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services and Nadia Ali from RTA claiming the second and third spots, respectively. In the expatriates’ category, Dubai Police athletes dominated again, with Olaha Shakel winning first place, followed by Akvil Gidrayte and Mukhabat Amutzanova in second and third places.

The bowling competition at Dubai International Bowling Center in Al-Mamzar featured Zakiya Darweesh from Dubai Police taking first place in the locals’ category, while her teammate Samantha Shamali won the expatriates’ category.

In running, Hessa Al-Jasmi from Emirates Fly claimed the top spot in the locals’ category, while Lisbeth Verheyden from Dubai Police won in the expatriates’ category.

The padel competition concluded at the Just Padel Club in Rashid Port, where Maryam Mubarak and Fatima Al-Suwiadi from Dubai Police won first place in the beginners’ category. Sofia Govorosa and Maya Alpha Bacanut, also from Dubai Police, secured the top position in the intermediate category.

In badminton, held at Al-Nasr Sports Club, Ghadeer Ali triumphed in the locals’ category, and Giano Maya Paral from Dubai Duty Free won the expatriates’ category.

To honor the outstanding achievements of participants, the DSC will host a prestigious awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, which will celebrate the winners of both individual and team competitions.

The tournament adhered to the rules of local federations, with additional articles tailored to the capabilities of female participants from governmental, semi-governmental, and private sectors, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations.

This year’s Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament not only showcased athletic talent but also underscored the commitment to empowering women through sports in Dubai.
