Karachi, Sindh – Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has highlighted the growing challenge of drug trafficking and addiction in society, emphasizing the urgent need for collective action. Speaking at the Sindh Assembly, Minister Memon, who also serves as the Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, stressed that drug use, including cocaine, marijuana, heroin, ice, and crystal, is becoming increasingly prevalent and fashionable, particularly in elite circles.
Minister Memon commended the Sindh Assembly for passing the anti-narcotics bill by consensus, reflecting a unified commitment from both government and opposition benches to combat the drug menace. He called for a collaborative effort involving authorities, media, and assembly members to address drug-related issues effectively.
He urged crime reporters and beat reporters from TV channels to help identify drug-related problems, promising swift action. He also emphasized the crucial role of parents in preventing drug abuse among children, urging them to be vigilant and proactive in addressing any changes in their child’s behavior.
Minister Memon stated, “We must all work together in the fight against drugs. If the authorities, media, and members of this assembly unite in our efforts, we can bring an end to drug issues within a month.”
He highlighted the importance of changing the mindset of letting things pass and taking a stand against wrongdoing. The minister reiterated the government’s ongoing actions and awareness efforts to tackle the drug crisis, aiming to create a safer and healthier society.
