T10 is a difficult and challenging format for bowlers: Charith Asalanka

Pallekele, Sri Lanka – Charith Asalanka, a prominent Sri Lankan batter playing for Jaffna Titans in the Lanka T10 Super League at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, has spoken about the unique challenges the shortest format of cricket presents for bowlers.

“It’s really hard to bowl in T10. A bowler just gets two overs and it becomes tricky for him. But it also depends on how you are playing on that particular day because sometimes bowlers have something on offer from the pitches and sometimes the tracks help the batters,” Asalanka explained.

The left-handed batter emphasized the importance of scoring runs, regardless of the cricket format. “We are here to score runs for our team and that’s our job and that’s what everyone is expecting from us. I think no matter the format is, we have to score runs,” he added.

Jaffna Titans boast several high-profile players, including David Wiese and Kusal Mendis. Asalanka believes that playing alongside such experienced cricketers provides a valuable learning opportunity for younger team members. “Yeah, it’s very important to share the dressing room with those guys because we got a lot of young players as well in our dressing room and I think as a country, we need those kind of experience cricketers with younger players in the dug out,” he concluded.

Jaffna Titans have shown impressive form in this edition of the tournament, remaining unbeaten in their first four matches. The team’s performance and leadership from players like Asalanka are contributing to a promising campaign in the Lanka T10 Super League.
