Sharjah, UAE – The Sharjah Warriorz are keen on gearing up for a strong showing in the upcoming edition of the DP World ILT20. Captained by the seasoned fast bowler Tim Southee, the Sharjah Warriorz have the guidance of JP Duminy as the head coach for Season 3 of the ILT20.
Known for their fighting spirit, the Warriorz, have put together a very enterprising squad with plenty of world class players and a new leadership, under whom the team will hope to give an outstanding performance.
While Southee will lead the bowling attack along with the likes of Adil Rashid, Mohammad Jawadullah, the batting lineup features the power-hitting trio of Matthew Wade, Jason Roy, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore. Local players like Ethan D’Souza and Junaid Siddique bring fresh energy and promise, setting the stage for a well-rounded campaign.
Head Coach JP Duminy shared his vision for the season, stating, “We’ve got a mix of familiar faces and new talent, all of whom bring unique strengths to the squad. Success will come from winning critical moments and staying composed under pressure.” The off-season saw the Warriorz refine their strategies, introducing a refreshed leadership structure. The very experienced duo of Southee and JP Duminy have seen many a battle in international cricket, and have solid support from the rest of the squad as well. The seasoned international players are champions in their respective roles, and have always managed to inspire the younger players alongside.
“Kicking off well is crucial, and our focus is on executing our plans with precision. T20 cricket demands adaptability and composure, especially in high-pressure situations.” said Tim Southee, Captain, Sharjah Warriorz.
“Given the kind of players we have in the squad, picking a playing XI for the Sharjah Warriorz is likely to be incredibly tough as we would want to have the most impactful players on the ground at all times. In franchise cricket that is one of the biggest challenges, but we are confident, that whoever gets picked will step-up and perform on the day,” the captain added.
With their signature yellow jerseys and a focus on execution, the Sharjah Warriorz aim to turn potential into performance this season. The Sharjah Warriorz will kick off their campaign against the Gulf Giants (12 Jan) in Dubai, before taking on the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi (15 Jan), after which they welcome the Dubai Capitals (17 Jan) and the MI Emirates (19 Jan) at Sharjah.
