News DeskDubai, UAE – Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Envoy to the UAE, recently delivered an insightful presentation at Heriot-Watt University Dubai, focusing on the rich cultural heritage and strategic relations between Pakistan and the UAE.
In his presentation, Ambassador Tirmizi traced Pakistan’s cultural roots back to ancient civilizations, including the Indus Valley and Gandhara Civilizations, emphasizing Pakistan’s unique cultural footprint in the modern world. “With the 5th largest population globally, 68% of Pakistan’s citizens are under the age of 30, representing immense potential,” he noted. He also highlighted Pakistan’s breathtaking landscapes, home to the Himalayas, Karakoram, and Hindu Kush mountain ranges, including five of the world’s fourteen peaks above 8,000 meters and over 100 peaks soaring above 7,000 meters.
The Ambassador underscored the deep-rooted bond between Pakistan and the UAE, spanning over 70 years. He paid tribute to visionary leaders like the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, whose efforts laid the foundation for the enduring partnership. Ambassador Tirmizi emphasized shared values, geographical proximity, cultural ties, and alignment on regional and global issues as the cornerstones of this robust bilateral relationship.
He highlighted that Pakistan was the first country to recognize the UAE, sending its envoy six months before the UAE’s formation in 1971. Ambassador Tirmizi lauded the contributions of Pakistani experts and professionals in the development of the financial, banking, aviation, and agriculture sectors of the UAE.
With an annual trade volume of USD 10 billion and UAE Foreign Direct Investment in Pakistan estimated at USD 2.9 billion, the economic partnership between the two nations continues to thrive. The 1.8 million Pakistanis living in the UAE also serve as a vital bridge, contributing significantly to the prosperity of both nations.
Ambassador Tirmizi encouraged students and faculty members to visit Pakistan to explore its stunning natural beauty, diverse cultures, and rich cuisines. He called upon Pakistani students to bring international friends along on their visits to promote Pakistan’s tourism potential and warm hospitality.
The interactive session concluded with enthusiastic engagement from the students, who appreciated the insights shared by the Ambassador and expressed interest in further exploring Pakistan’s heritage and opportunities.
