Lahore, PakistanAli Khan Tareen, the owner of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans and a prominent advocate for grassroots and women’s cricket in Pakistan, has announced a strategic investment in ME+U, a UK-based cricket footwear brand. Joining Tareen in this venture is international cricket star Kieron Pollard, as both take on roles as stakeholder board members. Their collaboration aims to bring inclusive, high-performance cricket footwear to players of all levels, with a particular focus on addressing the needs of cricketers in Pakistan.

Tareen, who will also join the ME+U board of directors, brings his extensive business expertise and growth-oriented vision to the company. Known for his leadership with the Multan Sultans, the Tareen Cricket Academy, and his upcoming sports investments, Tareen is poised to integrate ME+U’s innovative footwear into elite and grassroots cricket programs worldwide. The investment underscores a commitment to providing advanced cricket footwear that enhances stability, performance, and injury prevention—key factors often overlooked for cricketers in Pakistan.

“Cricket has evolved into a precise science, demanding exceptional technique, physical endurance, and, most importantly, the right gear to maximize performance,” said Tareen. “As a cricket enthusiast and an injury-prone fast bowler, I understand the critical role proper footwear plays in supporting a player’s body during competition. ME+U’s cricket shoes are designed to meet these demands, and I’m confident they will significantly impact the performance and safety of players, regardless of gender.”

Tareen also highlighted the need for better equipment for women cricketers, who often lack access to the same high-end gear as their male counterparts. “This partnership ensures that female players in Pakistan will now have access to world-class cricket footwear, contributing to their success and safety on the field,” he added.

Founded in 2023 by Matt Carter, Richard Woodhouse, and a team of cricket and footwear experts, ME+U was established to revolutionize the cricket footwear market. The brand focuses on performance, inclusivity, and comfort, addressing a critical gap in the industry by designing cricket shoes tailored to the unique anatomical needs of both male and female players. Traditional footwear has often failed to cater to women cricketers, and ME+U aims to bridge this gap through innovative design and technology.

ME+U’s debut product line includes all-rounder cricket shoes for women, all-rounder cricket shoes for men, and bowling shoes for men. Each pair is crafted using cutting-edge materials to enhance on-field performance and stability. The company plans to launch a new range of cricket footwear in 2025, incorporating feedback from professional players and the latest advancements in sportswear technology.

This partnership aligns with Tareen’s ongoing efforts to promote cricket development in Pakistan, particularly in South Punjab. Together with Pollard, Tareen aims to ensure that every player, from grassroots to elite levels, has access to professional-grade cricket footwear. This initiative not only supports players’ performance but also prioritizes their long-term physical well-being.

The collaboration between Tareen, Pollard, and ME+U marks a significant step forward in the global cricket community, emphasizing inclusivity and innovation in sports equipment. As the brand expands its reach, it promises to make a lasting impact on the game, empowering players worldwide to achieve their full potential.
