Dubai, UAE – The 12th edition of the prestigious Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament is set to kick off, with the Organizing Committee finalizing preparations for what is hailed as the largest event of its kind. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, the tournament is a highlight of the holy month of Ramadan. Organized under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, the event carries the inspiring slogan “Limitless Capabilities”.
The tournament, hosted at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, features a diverse range of sports, including tug-of-war, jiu-jitsu, obstacle course, volleyball, running, badminton, shooting, cycling, fencing, and wheelchair basketball. Registration deadlines for various events have been announced, with the tug-of-war, jiu-jitsu, and obstacle course championships closing on February 27. Volleyball registration will remain open until March 2, while running and badminton registrations will continue until March 3. The shooting and running (Laser Run) championship will accept entries until March 7, and cycling registration will close on March 9. Venues and New Additions
This year’s tournament will see events hosted across multiple venues. The Nad Al Sheba Complex will serve as the primary location, with its main hall hosting volleyball, jiu-jitsu, fencing, shooting with running (Laser Run), and the wheelchair basketball final. The adjacent hall will host the padel championship. The running race will take place at the Meydan Racecourse, while the cycling race will be held on Meydan Street and various areas of Mohammed bin Rashid City. The tug-of-war and obstacle course championships will be held at a specially designed course, and badminton will take place within the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.
A notable addition to this year’s tournament is the Laser Run Shooting Championship, which will debut on March 10 and 11, 2025 (10th and 11th Ramadan). Open to participants aged 7 to 69, the event will feature laser pistol shooting combined with running across 10 categories. Judging will adhere to the regulations of the Emirates Modern Pentathlon Federation, with winners determined by the fastest finish time and adherence to competition rules.
