Dubai: Emirati fencers delivered an impressive performance on the second day of the fencing championship at the 12th Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Sports Tournament, clinching two silver and two bronze medals in a thrilling display of skill. The event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and organized under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, continues to highlight Dubai’s commitment to fostering athletic excellence during Ramadan.

Fencing Triumphs
The UAE team celebrated victories across both men’s and women’s epee competitions. Majid Mohammed secured silver after a valiant effort against Iran’s Mohammad Ismaili (15-6), while Al Anoud Al Saadi claimed another silver, falling 6-15 to Tunisian Olympian Sarah Besbas. Bronze medals were earned by Khalifa Al Zarouni, who edged Egypt’s Khaled Buhdeima 14-13, and Sheikha Al Za’abi, who triumphed 15-12 over compatriot Fatima Al Zahra Mohammed.

The championship drew elite fencers from 13 nations, including Italy, France, and the USA, amplifying its prestige. Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Asian, Arab, and UAE Fencing Federations, praised the event’s growing global appeal: “This tournament is pivotal in honing Emirati talent and inspiring youth to embrace fencing.
