Dubai: The DP World International League T20 (ILT20) has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing UAE’s cricketing future by announcing its sponsorship of the upcoming Ramadan Cricket Tournament, set to take place at the ICC Academy Oval 1 and 2 in Dubai from March 13 to April 3, 2025. The 22-day event will spotlight 10 domestic teams and over 200 players, underscoring the league’s focus on grassroots development.
Organized to harness emerging talent, the tournament will feature teams such as Dubai Cricket Council Starlets, Karwan Cricket Club, Seven District, and Emirates Fly Better, among others. A single round-robin format will see each team play nine league matches, followed by semi-finals and a grand finale. Matches will be live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook, offering fans widespread access to the action.
David White, CEO of DP World ILT20, emphasized the league’s dedication to local cricket: “Supporting UAE’s homegrown talent is central to our mission. With 220 players participating, this tournament is a vital platform to identify and encourage future stars. Our investment in grassroots cricket reflects our long-term vision for the sport’s growth here.”

The announcement follows the conclusion of DP World ILT20 Season 3 in February, where Dubai Capitals clinched their maiden title. While the franchise league continues to draw global attention, its off-field initiatives—such as backing domestic tournaments and academies—highlight a parallel focus on strengthening UAE’s cricketing infrastructure.
The Ramadan tournament marks another stride in ILT20’s multi-year strategy to elevate the UAE’s cricketing ecosystem. By providing opportunities for local players to compete at competitive venues and gain visibility through digital streaming, the league aims to bridge the gap between amateur and professional cricket.
“Grassroots development is the foundation of any successful cricketing nation,” added White. “We’re proud to contribute to this journey and look forward to witnessing the passion and skill on display this Ramadan.”
As Dubai Capitals celebrate their recent triumph, the DP World ILT20’s latest initiative reinforces its pledge to ensure the sport’s sustainable growth in the UAE, one community tournament at a time.
