Kabul: In a significant move to bolster Afghanistan’s cricketing future, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has signed a landmark five-year agreement with the Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub (ADCSH), designating the UAE capital as the exclusive host for ACB’s training camps, junior-level matches, and international tournaments from 2025 to 2029.
The partnership, formalized last week in Abu Dhabi, ensures that ADCSH will be the primary venue for Afghanistan’s age-group and developmental cricket activities, while senior men’s bilateral matches will continue to be held across various UAE stadiums in collaboration with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). The agreement also includes ADCSH’s support in enhancing ACB’s global operations and player development pathways.
ACB CEO Naseeb Khan hailed the deal as a “turning point” for Afghan cricket, emphasizing Abu Dhabi’s role as a second home. “The UAE has been instrumental in our growth, and this partnership will provide our rising stars with world-class facilities to compete at the highest level,” he said.
Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), highlighted the unifying power of cricket, stating that the collaboration reinforces Abu Dhabi’s commitment to nurturing global talent. ADCSH CEO Matt Boucher added that the hub is proud to support Afghanistan’s cricketing ambitions, calling it a step toward leveraging sport for societal good.
The agreement cements Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a premier cricket destination and underscores the UAE’s enduring support for Afghanistan’s cricketing journey.
