Dubai: Smile Train ambassador and Egyptian actress, Mai Omar expressed her gratitude to medical staff for conducting life-changing surgeries saying, “No child should have to grow up feeling different because of a cleft,” following a hospital visit in Egypt.
Omar met with cleft-affected patients and their families at Al Wadi Hospital where she also toured the facility and engaged with hospital staff.
The hospital, a key partner of Smile Train, plays an integral role in providing free, high-quality cleft surgeries for children along with comprehensive cleft care which includes speech therapy and emotional support.
Omar said: “No child should have to grow up feeling different because of a cleft. Every child deserves a smile, and I am honored to be part of this journey to bring them hope and transformation.
“I also would like to express my gratitude for the medical teams and supporters in making these life-changing surgeries possibly,” Omar added. She emphasized that more awareness and donations can help reach even more children in need.
It was Omar’s latest visit since becoming an ambassador in 2021, reaffirming her commitment for supporting Smile Train’s initiatives across the Middle East and North Africa region, particularly in Egypt. Omar’s visit is part of Smile Train’s on-going efforts to raise awareness of cleft and conduct more surgeries in the MENA region. Smile Train has supported more than two million free cleft surgeries globally.
