Dubai, UAE – Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, has been named among India’s top five most cash-rich promoter-investors for FY25, with an estimated dividend income of ₹2,594 crore. He is the only entrepreneur from Kerala to feature on the prestigious list, which also includes industrial heavyweights like Mukesh Ambani, Anil Agarwal, and Azim Premji.

This financial milestone highlights the strong operational performance and robust financial health of Aster DM Healthcare—a leading integrated healthcare provider with a footprint spanning India and the GCC. In FY25, the company declared a special dividend of ₹118.0 per equity share, a final dividend of ₹2.0 per share, and an interim dividend of ₹4.0 per share. Promoters currently hold a 42% stake in the company.

Adding to its landmark year, Aster DM Healthcare also announced a strategic merger with Quality Care India Ltd. (QCIL). Backed by global investment firm Blackstone, the combined entity—Aster DM Quality Care Ltd.—is now positioned among India’s top three hospital chains, operating 38 hospitals with over 10,300 beds across 27 cities.

Unlike many industrialists on the list, Dr. Moopen’s wealth stems from a mission-driven healthcare enterprise. From launching a single clinic in Dubai in 1987, Aster has grown into a network of over 900 facilities across seven countries, employing more than 34,000 professionals.

A recipient of India’s Padma Shri and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, Dr. Moopen has long championed accessible healthcare. He established Dr. Moopen’s Medical College in Wayanad, the first in a tribal, hilly district of Kerala, bridging the healthcare gap in a traditionally underserved area.

His philanthropic arm, Aster Volunteers, launched in 2016, has become one of the world’s largest volunteer organizations, with over 85,000 members providing aid during disasters and in remote regions. Following the 2018 Kerala floods, Dr. Moopen personally pledged and delivered 255 homes to displaced families by 2022. He also spearheaded relief efforts during the 2023 Wayanad landslides, mobilizing teams to ensure swift deployment of medical aid.

As Aster DM Healthcare moves into its next phase of growth, Dr. Moopen’s journey stands as a rare blend of clinical excellence, social impact, and sustained financial success—a compelling example of purpose-driven entrepreneurship.
