Dubai: Adani Sportsline-owned Gulf Giants have announced a formidable new coaching line-up ahead of the DP World International League T20 (ILT20) Season 4 auction, signalling a strong intent to reclaim the title. Former England batting stalwart Jonathan Trott has been appointed as the new Head Coach.
The refreshed coaching staff, announced on Monday, features a wealth of international experience. Trott, who recently guided Afghanistan to a historic semi-final at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, will lead the Giants. He is joined by New Zealand pace legend Shane Bond as Bowling Coach and former South African cricketer Andrew Puttick as Batting Coach. The team is rounded out by Jamie Troughton as Fielding Coach and Nick Lee, who returns as the Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Trott brings an impressive coaching resume and a stellar playing career, having scored over 6,500 runs across Tests and ODIs for England. “The Gulf Giants have quickly become one of the ILT20’s most successful teams,” Trott said. “My goal is to empower players to excel and help shape a championship-winning squad through the first-ever ILT20 Auction.”
Bond, a veteran of 120 internationals, has extensive coaching experience with New Zealand and various T20 franchises, including in the IPL and the ILT20. “The team’s ambition is clear. I’m excited to sharpen our bowling attack and make a decisive impact this season,” Bond commented.
The appointments underscore Adani Sportsline’s commitment to fostering talent, which has seen players like UAE all-rounder Aayan Khan and Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani flourish.

Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer at Adani Sportsline, expressed his confidence in the new team. “We are thrilled to welcome this exceptional group of cricketing minds. Their experience and shared values will be pivotal in taking the Gulf Giants to new heights.”
The Gulf Giants have retained a core group of players and added significant new signings ahead of the auction.
