Dubai, UAE – BMW has officially lifted the veil on the all-new BMW iX3, the first series-produced model of its highly anticipated Neue Klasse generation. This fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) marks a significant leap forward for the brand, introducing a new design language, sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, and an advanced electronics architecture.
The new iX3 is a harbinger of a new era of “Sheer Driving Pleasure,” combining cutting-edge technology with a character-rich, reduced design. With a focus on electrification, digitalization, and circularity, the vehicle represents a major milestone in BMW’s transformation process. According to Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, the iX3 is “more BMW than ever,” despite being almost entirely new.
Redefining Driving Dynamics and User Experience
At the heart of the iX3’s performance is the sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology. The iX3 50 xDrive variant, with its electric all-wheel drive, is powered by two electric motors that produce a combined output of 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque. This enables a brisk 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 4.9 seconds. The new high-voltage battery concept utilizes cylindrical cells, providing a 20% higher energy density and a 30% increase in charging speed compared to its predecessor. This allows for a remarkable range of up to 805 kilometers (WLTP).

Charging is also a faster, more flexible experience. With 800V technology, the iX3 can achieve a peak charging rate of 400 kW, adding up to 372 kilometers of range in just ten minutes. The battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in a mere 21 minutes. The new iX3 also introduces bidirectional charging, allowing the vehicle to serve as a mobile power bank through its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, or even integrate with a home’s energy system via Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and the energy grid via Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications.
A key element of the vehicle’s digital experience is BMW Panoramic iDrive, which redefines the user interface. It’s built on the new BMW Operating System X and brings together a BMW Panoramic Vision display that spans the entire width of the windscreen, a central display, and a 3D Head-Up Display. This system prioritizes the “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” principle, with physical controls for essential functions and an enhanced BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Sustainable by Design, Built for the Future
The new BMW iX3 is a testament to the brand’s commitment to sustainability. A holistic approach to reducing its product carbon footprint has resulted in a 34% smaller footprint over its full life cycle compared to the previous model. The car is built at the new, fossil-fuel-free BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary, which begins production in autumn 2025.
The iX3 incorporates circularity at its core, with approximately one-third of the vehicle made from secondary raw materials. This includes components made from recycled marine plastic and seat coverings and textiles made from 100% recycled PET and other materials.
The electronics architecture of the iX3 is built around four “superbrain” high-performance computers that pool processing power for driving dynamics, automated driving, infotainment, and comfort functions. This not only makes the car more intelligent and future-proof but also allows for continuous over-the-air software updates. The “Heart of Joy,” one of these superbrains, manages the drivetrain and driving dynamics, processing information up to ten times faster than conventional units, ensuring unmatched handling precision.

The new BMW iX3 is slated for a European market launch in spring 2026, followed by the USA in summer 2026. A tailored variant will also be produced in China for the local market, with deliveries starting in summer 2026.
