MALÉ, Maldives – Dive enthusiasts are set for a unique encounter with world champion freediver Alessia Zecchini, as Sun Diving hosts a special event on October 13th, 2025, at Sun Siyam Olhuveli’s Sunrise Beach.
The athlete, famously known as “The Deepest Woman in the World,” will be sharing her journey, insights on ocean conservation, and techniques on breath control during an informative talk from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
Born in Rome in 1992, Zecchini began her extraordinary career at just 13 years old, going on to set multiple world and European records. She became the first woman to successfully dive to 100 metres in free immersion and currently holds the deepest record in constant weight with monofin at an astonishing 123 metres.
Her inspiring story and accomplishments have been brought to global attention through the film Vertical Breath and the acclaimed Netflix documentary The Deepest Breath.

The exclusive guest engagement will offer attendees a rare chance to connect with the athlete, who continues to champion ocean preservation while pushing the boundaries of human endurance. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session, allowing guests to interact directly with Zecchini and the Sun Diving team.
Ahmed Nihaan, Dive Center Manager at Sun Siyam Olhuveli, expressed his enthusiasm for the event. “Welcoming Alessia Zecchini is an honor for us and an inspiration for our guests. Her achievements beneath the waves embody both human potential and the importance of protecting our oceans,” he said.
In addition to the talk, Sun Diving will host an interactive beach experience where guests can try out scuba and snorkel gear in shallow water, guided by instructors. Guests will also have the opportunity to capture photos and autographs from Zecchini, and explore the dive booth to learn about diving courses and special offers from Sun Diving.

Sun Diving, the official diving arm of Sun Siyam Group, provides SSI-certified courses, snorkelling, freediving, and specialty programs across the group’s Maldives properties, focusing on sustainable and memorable ocean adventures.
