Abu Dhabi: The UAE Committee for Talent and Sports Support (UAETSS) at the Ministry of Sports has announced the launch of the inaugural “Swimming Talents Championship,” set to take place on November 15–16, 2025, at the Mohammed Bin Zayed City Swimming Pool in Abu Dhabi.

The event marks a significant milestone in the ministry’s national strategy to identify, nurture, and develop young sporting talents, particularly in aquatic disciplines. Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, the UAE Swimming Federation, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the championship is supervised by UAETSS as part of an integrated plan to build a sustainable national talent ecosystem.

Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector and Chairman of the UAE Committee for Talent and Sports Support, said the championship reflects the ministry’s vision to cultivate a new generation of athletes capable of representing the UAE on regional and international stages.

“The Swimming Talents Championship is a strategic step toward preparing champions and refining emerging talents,” Sheikh Suhail said. “It embodies our aspirations to develop national capabilities and strengthen the UAE’s presence in aquatic sports.”

He added that the initiative goes beyond competition, describing it as a national effort to inspire excellence, promote sports culture among youth, and foster a spirit of achievement across the country.

The championship will serve as the first phase of the National Sports Talent Discovery Program, providing a genuine platform for young swimmers to showcase their potential in a professional and competitive environment that meets international standards.

Open to athletes aged 9 to 17, the two-day event is expected to attract over 600 male and female participants from approximately 100 clubs and academies across the UAE — a testament to the country’s growing investment in youth sports development.

Winners in each category will receive medals and recognition awards, while a selection of standout performers will be invited to join Talent Development Sponsorship Programs under the UAETSS. These programs, developed in cooperation with specialized entities, will provide ongoing technical training, mentorship, and support to help promising athletes reach elite levels.

The Ministry of Sports has invited all clubs and academies nationwide to register for the event, with detailed participation requirements and registration information to be announced soon through the ministry’s official website.

The Swimming Talents Championship underscores the UAE’s continued commitment to building a world-class sports ecosystem, strengthening its reputation as a regional hub for athletic excellence and youth empowerment.
