Abu Dhabi: The Royal Champs have announced the signing of two of international cricket’s most dynamic stars, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and England opener Jason Roy, for the inaugural season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, which begins on November 19, 2025, at Zayed Cricket Stadium.
The franchise, making its first appearance in the fast-paced 10-over tournament, will open its campaign against the Vista Riders. With the addition of Shakib and Roy, the Royal Champs are aiming for a powerful start in their debut season.
Shakib, widely regarded as one of the finest all-rounders in world cricket, expressed his excitement about joining the new side.
“I am super pumped to join Royal Champs and play at the Abu Dhabi T10 League,” said Shakib. “This new format is thrilling, and I’m eager to give my best for the team. The energy and pace of T10 cricket demand sharpness and teamwork, and I believe our squad, with its right mix of skill and fearlessness, is ready to blaze a path to glory.”

The Bangladesh captain also highlighted the challenge and opportunity the T10 format presents.
“Playing for the Royal Champs is an exciting challenge,” he said. “We have a powerhouse lineup ready to entertain fans and compete with integrity. I am prepared and highly focused on our first match against Vista Riders and beyond.”
Joining him in the Royal Champs camp is England’s aggressive top-order batter Jason Roy, who has been named the team’s ICON player. Known for his explosive batting, Roy said he is relishing the prospect of competing in one of cricket’s fastest formats.
“I’m really happy to be part of the Royal Champs for this inaugural Abu Dhabi T10 League,” Roy said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase my game in the shortest and fastest format, and I’m ready to contribute from the get-go. Our team’s blend of international stars and emerging talents makes us a formidable side, and I can’t wait to take the field in our first match.”

Roy added that the team’s preparation and spirit have been impressive ahead of the league’s start.
“The energy around the Royal Champs is incredible. We’ve trained hard, and the squad is confident and eager. This inaugural season is not just about cricket but about building a legacy, and I am proud to be part of it.”
Team head coach Sir Courtney Walsh praised the addition of the two international stars, calling them “leaders by example.”
“Shakib and Jason exemplify the skill, experience, and heart required to succeed in this high-octane format,” said Walsh. “Their leadership and talent will inspire the Royals and create thrilling moments for fans.”
