Dubai: Global enterprise software giant SAP SE and Snowflake (NYSE: SNOW), the AI Data Cloud company, have announced a landmark collaboration aimed at revolutionising how organisations leverage business and AI data.
The partnership introduces the SAP Snowflake Solution Extension for SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) an offering that seamlessly unites SAP’s semantically rich business data with Snowflake’s unified data and AI platform. The integration will empower enterprises to build intelligent, AI-driven applications faster while maintaining full data governance and operational efficiency.
The collaboration will also introduce zero-copy data sharing between SAP BDC and Snowflake, enabling customers to access and analyse real-time data across both platforms without duplication. This capability is expected to help organisations gain deeper insights, enhance data-driven decision-making, and reduce total cost of ownership.
“By tightly integrating SAP and Snowflake, we’re making it simple for enterprises to connect their critical business data in SAP with the power of seamless AI app and data agent development in Snowflake,” said Christian Kleinerman, EVP of Product, Snowflake. “Enterprises can now innovate faster with zero-copy, fully governed data sharing between SAP BDC and Snowflake.”
The SAP Snowflake solution brings Snowflake directly into SAP’s open data ecosystem, extending the capabilities of SAP BDC with Snowflake’s strengths in AI, analytics, data engineering, and collaboration. Organisations can leverage bidirectional zero-copy data access to work with semantically rich SAP data products in real time within a unified governance framework.
“Bringing Snowflake to SAP Business Data Cloud empowers our customers with openness and choice,” said Irfan Khan, President and Chief Product Officer for SAP Data and Analytics, SAP SE. “Together, we combine SAP’s decades of leadership in business applications with Snowflake’s modern data platform to deliver an enterprise-ready experience that extends the value of business data across the ecosystem.”
Transforming Business Data into AI-Ready Insights
Through SAP Snowflake, enterprises will be able to:
- Build a trusted AI-ready data foundation that harmonises SAP and non-SAP data for unified analytics and machine learning.
- Accelerate AI business value with semantically rich, context-driven data models that support secure and compliant AI governance.
- Develop intelligent applications faster by grounding them in trusted business data and leveraging Snowflake’s compute and storage power at cloud scale.
In addition, the partnership will introduce SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Snowflake, a new capability that provides bidirectional zero-copy data sharing for enterprises already using Snowflake. This feature enables real-time access to SAP data products without duplication, giving organisations a unified, governed, and scalable data environment.
One early adopter, AstraZeneca, has already expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential.
“Data and AI are central to our mission of transforming patient outcomes,” said Russell Smith, Vice President of ERP Transformation Technology at AstraZeneca. “Our collaboration with SAP and Snowflake enhances our ability to process and analyse real-time data, accelerating breakthroughs that matter.”
Availability
According to both companies, SAP Snowflake is scheduled for general availability in Q1 2026, while SAP BDC Connect for Snowflake will be rolled out in H1 2026.
The collaboration marks a major step in aligning enterprise business systems with next-generation AI capabilities, enabling customers to innovate faster, govern smarter, and operate more efficiently in the evolving data-driven economy.
