Sharjah: The Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) is reinforcing its mission to promote intellectual property rights at the 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) 2025, which runs from November 5 to 16 at Expo Centre Sharjah.
Through its dedicated booth, ERRA is engaging with visitors, authors, and publishers to highlight its pioneering role in protecting creative rights and building a culture of respect for intellectual property across the UAE’s cultural and creative sectors.
Majd Al Shehhi, Director of ERRA, said the Association’s participation at SIBF underscores its “ongoing commitment to protecting the rights of authors and creators, enhancing public awareness of reprographic rights, and promoting a culture of innovation and transparency in the world of books and publishing.”
“The Book Fair represents a strategic platform to engage with publishers, creators, and readers, exchange expertise, and discuss challenges,” Al Shehhi said. “It is also an opportunity to highlight the latest initiatives that support authors and publishers and ensure the sustainability of their work.”
Spotlight on AI and Digital Rights
As part of its participation, ERRA is organising a series of interactive sessions aimed at raising awareness about rights management in the evolving digital and educational landscape.
Among the highlights is an awareness workshop titled “Authors’ Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence – From Challenges to Solutions,” which will explore how rapid technological advances and content generation tools are reshaping the protection of creative works. The session will discuss the balance between fostering innovation and safeguarding intellectual property in the age of AI.

In addition, ERRA will host a dialogue session titled “Transformations in Rights Protection – From Traditional Publishing to the Digital Environment.” The discussion will focus on how collective management organisations are adapting to digital transformation, ensuring creators’ rights are protected while supporting the financial sustainability of the publishing sector.
Strengthening Creative Partnerships
Throughout the fair, ERRA is inviting authors and publishers to join its membership to benefit from its services and rights management framework. The Association also aims to strengthen collaboration with cultural institutions and forge partnerships that support a vibrant, rights-conscious creative economy.
ERRA’s presence at the Sharjah International Book Fair reaffirms its strategic vision of fostering a sustainable cultural ecosystem—one that empowers creators, supports the publishing industry, and upholds intellectual property as a cornerstone of innovation and growth in the UAE.
