Ajman: Gulf Medical University (GMU) has unveiled the Thumbay Artificial Intelligence (AI) Clinic — a first-of-its-kind innovation space that aims to revolutionize healthcare education through advanced digital technologies.

The AI-driven clinic, launched under the Thumbay College of Management & AI in Healthcare, was inaugurated by Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group. The facility is powered by Zoom Video Communications and HP | Poly, integrating intelligent collaboration tools and immersive digital infrastructure to support hybrid learning and telemedicine experiences.

Described as a “technology-enabled learning hub,” the Thumbay AI Clinic allows students, faculty, and healthcare professionals to explore how AI can enhance diagnostics, telemedicine, and clinical workflows. It provides hands-on exposure to emerging digital tools that improve precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Moideen said the initiative aligns with GMU’s mission to equip future healthcare leaders with both clinical expertise and digital fluency.

“The future of healthcare lies at the intersection of knowledge, compassion, and technology. The Thumbay AI Clinic is where education meets innovation — turning possibilities into practice,” he said.

Professor Manda Venkatramana, Vice Chancellor of GMU, said the new facility marks a transformation in how medical education is delivered.

“Through partnerships with Zoom and HP Poly, we are creating intelligent learning ecosystems that mirror the real-world dynamics of modern healthcare,” he added.

Zoom’s AI Companion will power features such as AI-generated clinical notes, automated meeting summaries, and context-aware collaboration tools — all supported by HIPAA-compliant data protection for secure hybrid care. Meanwhile, HP | Poly’s intelligent cameras, audio systems, and interactive touchscreens will create an immersive classroom-to-clinic learning experience.

A senior spokesperson from Zoom said the company was proud to collaborate with GMU and Thumbay Group.

“With our AI-powered technologies, we aim to bridge distance, enhance communication, and empower the next generation of healthcare professionals,” the spokesperson said.

Established in 1998, Gulf Medical University is among the region’s leading private medical institutions, known for its focus on innovation, research, and healthcare excellence. The launch of the Thumbay AI Clinic underscores GMU’s commitment to preparing graduates for an AI-driven future in global healthcare.
