ABU DHABI, UAE – The Zayed Cricket Stadium became a focal point for global cricket talent on Monday as the biggest names in the T10 format gathered ahead of the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 season.
The event marked the curtain raiser for the latest edition of the fast-paced tournament, which is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, November 18. Eight franchise teams were represented by their ‘Global Legends’ and ‘Icon’ players, including heavyweights such as Kieron Pollard (UAE Bulls), Thisara Perera (Northern Warriors), Angelo Mathews (Royal Champs), Faf du Plessis (Vista Riders), Sam Billings (Aspin Stallions), Nicholas Pooran (Deccan Gladiators), and Moeen Ali (Ajman Titans).
The focus on the UAE’s role as a growing cricket powerhouse was a key theme of the pre-tournament dialogue. Moeen Ali, Captain of the Ajman Titans, praised the host nation’s infrastructure.
“The UAE has established itself as a global cricket hub, and you can see that with tournaments like the Abu Dhabi T10,” Ali stated. “The facilities here are world-class, and the passion for cricket is growing every year. It feels great to be part of something that’s putting UAE cricket on the map and attracting the best players from around the world.”
Kieron Pollard of The UAE Bulls highlighted the collaborative environment between international icons and local players. “It’s great to see the local talent developing, and being part of this tournament alongside them is something special,” he said.
The tournament, hosted entirely at the iconic Zayed Cricket Stadium, promises 32 high-octane matches across 12 playing days. The T10 format, featuring 90-minute contests where each side bats for just ten overs, is celebrated as cricket’s fastest version.
Defending champions Deccan Gladiators will be keen to start strong. Their captain, Nicholas Pooran, expressed his long-standing affinity for the region. “I’ve always loved playing cricket in the UAE. It has been a home away from home for me, and I’m always excited to be playing cricket in this region,” Pooran commented.
The opening day’s double-header will see new entrants Quetta Qavalry take on Northern Warriors, followed by an exciting clash between the defending champions, Deccan Gladiators, and the UAE Bulls.
Following a round-robin group stage of 28 matches, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs, starting on Saturday, November 29, 2025. The final match to crown the 2025 champion will be held on Sunday, November 30, following Qualifier 2.
