Dubai, UAE – Dubai has received high-level international recognition following the successful staging of the inaugural Women’s Triathlon World Cup – the first global championship dedicated exclusively to female athletes.

Organised by the Dubai Sports Council as part of the Sheikha Hind Sports Initiative and within the framework of the Dubai Sports Plan 2033, the championship was held under the supervision of World Triathlon (TRI) in cooperation with the UAE Triathlon Federation.

The landmark event attracted wide international participation from multiple continents, marking a significant milestone in the history of women’s triathlon and further reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading host of major international sporting events.

Antonio Arimany, President of World Triathlon, praised the professional organisation of the championship, describing it as “a historic achievement for triathlon and for women’s sport in the region”. He said the collective efforts behind the event had helped create new opportunities for women to participate, compete and excel on the international stage.

Arimany commended the Dubai Sports Council and the local organising committee for their professionalism, commitment and hospitality, while also acknowledging the role of the UAE Triathlon Federation in supporting the development of the sport and advancing women’s and girls’ participation in triathlon.

He added that Dubai’s overall atmosphere, quality of organisation, and the strong engagement of volunteers and partners had set a new benchmark for future editions of the championship and for women’s triathlon globally. World Triathlon, he said, looks forward to building on this momentum and strengthening cooperation to inspire more women and girls to discover the sport.

Eisa Sharif, Chairman of the Event Organising Committee and Director of the Sports Events Department at the Dubai Sports Council, said the success of the inaugural edition reflects Dubai’s clear vision in supporting sport, empowering women and strengthening the city’s position on the global sporting map.

“We are extremely pleased with the outstanding success of the Women’s Triathlon World Cup, delivered to the highest international standards,” Sharif said, thanking World Triathlon and the UAE Triathlon Federation for their close cooperation and pivotal support.

He added that the event once again demonstrated Dubai’s proven ability to host the world’s largest and most prestigious sporting events, supported by state-of-the-art venues, world-class infrastructure and highly qualified national professionals with extensive operational expertise.

Sharif also noted that Dubai’s international sports calendar will continue to expand in the coming period. “We remain committed to attracting high-quality competitions that align with Dubai’s long-term sports strategy and reinforce its standing as a leading global destination for elite sport, leaving a lasting sporting and institutional legacy,” he said.

The Women’s Triathlon World Cup – Dubai 2025 featured multiple race categories, including Super Sprint races for beginners and age-group athletes, Sprint races for amateurs and age-group competitors, and an elite professional category contested by leading Olympic and world-class triathletes. All races were conducted according to approved international distances across swimming, cycling and running disciplines.

Athletes and national teams from Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas took part, enhancing the competitive value of the championship and reinforcing its global status.

The races were broadcast on Dubai Sports Channel, with the elite women’s race also aired on international networks, providing the event with wide global exposure.

The championship was supported by major national institutions, with DP World serving as the official sponsor, in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Police and Al Jalila Foundation.
