Dubai, UAE – Danube Group, one of the UAE’s most diversified conglomerates, has entered the digital sports media sector with the launch of Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group, the country’s first cricket-focused digital media platform.
The new venture is led by Danube Group vice chairman Anis Sajan, widely known in the region as “Mr. Cricket UAE”, and marks the Group’s expansion beyond its core businesses in real estate, retail, building materials and hospitality.
Headquartered in Dubai, Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group aims to position the UAE as a hub not only for hosting international cricket but also for shaping how the sport is consumed globally through digital platforms. The launch comes as the country continues to strengthen its role in the global sports ecosystem, having hosted major tournaments such as the T20 World Cup, Asia Cup, ILT20 and T10 leagues.
The official launch event in Dubai was attended by several international cricket figures, including Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, JP Duminy, Fakhar Zaman, Angelo Mathews, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and former UAE captain Khurram Khan.

Speaking at the launch, Anis Sajan said the new platform reflected both a strategic business decision and a personal commitment to the sport. “Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group is not just a business expansion; it is the culmination of my lifelong passion for cricket,” he said. “As the UAE becomes a global hub for the sport, this platform will bring world-class cricket content, storytelling and exclusive access to fans worldwide.”
Initially focused exclusively on cricket, the platform will offer live and real-time coverage, exclusive interviews with international players, premium video productions, studio shows, social-first short-form content, documentary-style storytelling and behind-the-scenes insights from global leagues.
According to Danube Group, the long-term vision includes expanding coverage to other major sports, eventually developing the platform into a multi-sport digital media destination.
Sajan highlighted the UAE’s unique multicultural relationship with cricket, noting its popularity among communities from South Asia as well as expatriates from countries such as England, Australia and South Africa. “Launching a world-class sports media platform here is a step towards cementing the nation’s role not just in hosting the sport, but in shaping how it is consumed,” he said.
Danube Group said the move aligns with its broader strategy of diversification and innovation, adding a new digital vertical that combines technology, entertainment and culture.
Despite the commercial scale of the venture, Sajan emphasised that cricket remains a deeply personal pursuit. “Cricket has been my passion for more than 45 years and will never be treated purely as a business,” he said. “Cricket mera pyaar hai, koi karobar nahi.”
