Dubai, UAE – The 2025 Asian Youth Para Games (AYPG) in Dubai delivered unforgettable moments of resilience and triumph, none more striking than the performance of 15-year-old Emirati athlete Humaid Alblooshi, who claimed the UAE’s first gold medal of the Games in the men’s discus F32 final.
Competing in his debut AYPG appearance, Alblooshi’s victory added to an already remarkable year, following his haul of two gold medals and one bronze at the World Para Athletics Championships earlier in 2025. His success, forged through long hours balancing training, academics and recovery, drew praise from his coach Tvan Sharjhan, who described the young athlete as approaching “everything with immense passion and unwavering focus.”
Following his historic win, Alblooshi offered simple but powerful advice: “Stay relaxed, be true to yourself, and never — never — give up.”
Across venues in Dubai, similar scenes of determination unfolded as young para-athletes pushed their limits — from archers maintaining calm focus to weightlifters embracing hardship and swimmers racing with nothing left to spare. Together, their performances embodied the event’s defining theme: “Born to Rise.”

That same philosophy found a partner in Chery UAE, represented in the country by AW Rostamani Group, which maintained a strong presence throughout the Games. The brand supported the event by showcasing its technologies and standing alongside athletes, highlighting how innovation and mobility can empower performance on the global stage.
Zaher Sabagh, General Manager of Chery UAE, said the athletes’ journeys mirrored the company’s own pursuit of progress.
“Seeing these athletes push boundaries and chart their winning paths is a powerful reminder of how far resilience, discipline and belief can take us. At Chery UAE, we see these same values reflected in our journey as a brand, embracing challenges and striving for excellence while supporting meaningful initiatives that place the community first.”
Chery’s story spans nearly three decades of technological advancement. Founded in 1997 on the outskirts of Wuhu, China, the company has grown from modest beginnings into a global innovation powerhouse with eight R&D centres and over 30,000 research professionals. Its engineers’ persistence has delivered major breakthroughs in hybrid technology, culminating in a globally leading 48 per cent engine thermal efficiency, achieved through tens of thousands of combustion tests and continuous optimisation.

The company’s commitment to quality is further demonstrated through its “Six Extreme” testing system, which exposes vehicles to intense cold, heat, humidity, desert and marine conditions, alongside more than 1,500 crash tests annually to meet over 80 international safety standards.
Chery’s progress has earned international recognition, with models such as the TIGGO7 CSH and TIGGO8 CSH receiving accolades across Europe and Australia for performance, safety and value.
From the competition field to the open road, the shared message remained clear: progress is built on perseverance. As young athletes at the AYPG redefine what is possible, Chery’s continued innovation reflects the same belief — that true champions are, indeed, Born to Rise.
