Dubai, UAE – Huawei has announced a landmark partnership with marathon great Eliud Kipchoge, joining forces with the DSM-Firmenich Running Team as its official technology partner in a move aimed at advancing intelligent and data-driven running worldwide.

The collaboration brings together one of the world’s most iconic endurance athletes and a global technology leader, signalling Huawei’s strong return to the professional running watch segment while reinforcing its commitment to health, fitness and innovation.

Widely celebrated as one of the greatest marathon runners of all time, Kipchoge famously broke the two-hour marathon barrier with a historic time of 1:59:40, redefining the limits of human endurance and embodying his philosophy that “No Human Is Limited”. Beyond elite sport, Kipchoge continues to champion running as a universal activity that promotes health, unity and personal growth.

In November 2025, following the completion of the prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors Seven Star Medal, Kipchoge announced a new global mission to run seven marathons across seven continents, using running as a bridge between cultures and a platform to inspire healthier lifestyles around the world.

Huawei, with more than 12 years of experience in health and fitness technology, has shipped over 200 million wearable devices globally as of June 2025 and ranked first in global wearable shipments during the first three quarters of the year. Through advanced data analytics, precise tracking and scientific training insights, Huawei’s technology will support Kipchoge and his team in optimising performance and pushing new boundaries.

The partnership coincides with Huawei’s plans to unveil a new professional running watch, five years after launching the first-generation HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner in 2021. The upcoming device will feature Huawei’s TruSense system for comprehensive health monitoring and the Sunflower positioning system for significantly enhanced accuracy. According to Huawei, extensive testing with over 100 runners has achieved race performance prediction accuracy exceeding 97 per cent, alongside machine learning-based fatigue assessments to enable smarter training.

Elite athletes including Kipchoge and world record holder Joshua Cheptegei will contribute real-world feedback from training and competition, helping refine the watch’s algorithms and features to meet the demands of professional runners.

While built to satisfy elite performance needs, the new watch is also designed to be accessible for recreational runners and everyday users, offering holistic health management tools that encourage wider participation in running.

By combining world-class athletic excellence with cutting-edge wearable technology, Huawei aims to make intelligent training more accessible, inspire a global running culture, and empower individuals of all levels to embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle.
