Mauritius: As Eid approaches, Mauritius is gaining attention among GCC travellers seeking a holiday that combines relaxation, celebration, and natural beauty. With its white-sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and vibrant Creole culture, the Indian Ocean island continues to position itself as a preferred seasonal escape for families, couples, and groups of friends.

Hospitality group Sunlife is highlighting two of its flagship properties this season – La Pirogue and The Bay Club by Anahita – each offering a distinct holiday experience tailored to different travel styles.

Located on the popular west coast beach of Flic-en-Flac, La Pirogue is one of Mauritius’ most established resorts and is marking its 50th anniversary this year. Known for its traditional thatched-roof bungalows set within tropical gardens, the resort reflects classic island architecture and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. It caters to both families and couples, offering a mix of dining venues, water sports, and cultural activities designed to immerse visitors in local traditions. During the Eid period, guests can expect themed culinary offerings and festive hospitality in a beachfront setting.

In contrast, The Bay Club by Anahita targets travellers seeking a more private and upscale environment. The boutique-style property features suites and villas overlooking either the lagoon or a championship golf course. Designed for families and groups travelling together, the resort provides access to fine dining, golf facilities, and personalised experiences within a quieter, more exclusive setting.

Industry observers note that Mauritius’ appeal to GCC travellers is supported by convenient air links, a reputation for safety, and a well-developed tourism infrastructure. The island’s blend of cultural warmth, natural scenery, and resort luxury continues to make it particularly attractive during major holiday periods such as Eid.

With options ranging from heritage-inspired beachfront stays to secluded villa retreats, Mauritius is reinforcing its position as a destination that offers both celebration and serenity for the festive season.
