Abu Dhabi, UAE: Cancer Run™ 2026, presented by Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and organised by Plan b Group, achieved a historic milestone by setting a new Guinness World Records™ title for the Most Nationalities in a Run at its Abu Dhabi edition held on February 1, 2026, at Hudayriyat Island. Supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the landmark event witnessed participation from 71 nationalities, bringing together cancer warriors, runners, families, and communities in a unified stand against cancer.
The annual campaign has established itself as a unique platform promoting regular cancer screening, awareness, and active lifestyles, aligning with the UAE’s national vision of building a healthier and happier society. The event also complements Abu Dhabi’s recent initiatives in cancer awareness, research, and treatment, including the opening of a high-potency facility for manufacturing oncology drugs.
The programme featured a range of community-driven activities, including a warm-up session led by Fitness First coaches, a Zumba session by Evolve Fitness, and a moving opening performance of the UAE National Anthem by Emirati singer Mohamed Salem. Family-friendly attractions such as mascots, balloon artists, and a bubble show further enhanced the inclusive atmosphere.
Cancer remains one of the most prevalent illnesses in the UAE and is the third leading cause of death, accounting for 12.4 per cent of total mortality, according to the UAE National Cancer Registry. In Abu Dhabi, breast cancer was the most diagnosed cancer in 2023, while colorectal cancer recorded the highest number of cancer-related deaths, as reported by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center.
Reinforcing the importance of timely screenings, awareness, and healthy lifestyle choices, Cancer Run™ 2026 featured 1km, 3km, 5km, and 10km race categories, enabling participation from families, beginners, fitness enthusiasts, and professional athletes. Hydration stations and on-site medical support ensured the safety and comfort of all participants.

The event was supported by key partners including Modon, Abu Dhabi Media, Skechers, La Roche-Posay, Fitness First, Masafi, Lovin Abu Dhabi, Khaleej Times, Star FM, Emarat, and others. Special recognition was also extended to Pocari Sweat, Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club, Garmin, AMIT Care, Tangerine Entertainment, and Kibsons for their continued commitment to the cause.
Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Harmeek Singh, Founder and Chairman of Plan b Group, said the record-breaking run reflected the UAE Government’s vision of unity through health and happiness. He highlighted how collective action can create meaningful impact while inspiring the nation to prioritise regular check-ups and preventive healthcare.
Following the success of the Abu Dhabi edition, the Dubai edition of Cancer Run™ 2026 is scheduled for February 7, 2026, at Dubai Festival City, supported by the Dubai Sports Council. The organisers anticipate an even larger turnout as the campaign continues to build momentum.
Looking ahead, Cancer Run™ aims to return in 2027 with a broader vision to welcome more participants, expand cancer awareness initiatives, and further promote healthy lifestyle choices for cancer prevention and management.
