News DeskDubai: Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, attended a climate-focused event organized by Earth Warriorz in collaboration with the Pakistan Youth Forum (PYF) at the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), where the documentary “The Last Village” was screened to engage Pakistani youth and the diaspora in dialogue on climate change and community resilience.
Addressing the gathering, the Consul General lauded the efforts of Emaan Danish, Founder of Earth Warriorz, and her team for raising awareness on environmental challenges. He also commended the Pakistan Youth Forum for actively mobilizing young Pakistanis around an issue of both global and national significance.
Hussain Muhammad noted that Pakistan remains among the countries most affected by climate change despite contributing less than one percent to global greenhouse gas emissions. He underscored Pakistan’s commitments under its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), which include emissions reduction targets, expansion of renewable energy, and large-scale afforestation initiatives.
Emphasizing the importance of international solidarity, the Consul General called for enhanced global cooperation, increased climate finance, and greater technology transfer. He urged developed countries to extend meaningful support to developing nations to strengthen climate resilience and adaptation capacity.
Highlighting the power of youth engagement, he stressed that young people have a critical role to play in climate action and encouraged collective efforts toward building a more sustainable and resilient future.
Referring to the documentary, he said “The Last Village” effectively portrays the severe impact of climate change on vulnerable communities in Swat, Pakistan. He underlined that climate change is not only an environmental concern but also a pressing humanitarian and socio-economic challenge requiring urgent and coordinated action.
