Dubai: Danube Properties has broken ground on the Rizwan Askerali Sajan Masjid in Dubai Silicon Oasis, marking another milestone in the developer’s ongoing efforts to support faith-based and community-focused initiatives across the UAE. The project forms part of Danube Group’s AED 50 million commitment to building mosques nationwide a pledge first announced in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
Set within one of Dubai’s rapidly expanding districts, the upcoming masjid is envisioned as a space that fosters spiritual connection while strengthening the fabric of the surrounding community. The mosque will rise on a 121,000-square-foot plot, featuring a built-up area of 19,000 square feet and capacity for up to 1,000 worshippers, including 800 men and 200 women. In addition to its prayer facilities, the development will offer ample parking beyond standard capacity to ensure ease of access for visitors. Construction is expected to conclude later this year.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Rizwan Sajan, Founder and Chairman of Danube Group, and Badr Buhannad, Director General of Dubai Silicon Oasis, along with senior officials and invited dignitaries. The event signaled the start of a project positioned as both a place of worship and a long-term community asset.
Speaking at the ceremony, Badr Buhannad highlighted the importance of integrating social and spiritual infrastructure within developing urban environments. He noted that initiatives of this nature contribute to overall community wellbeing and align with Dubai’s vision for inclusive, sustainable master-planned districts. Buhannad also praised Danube Properties for its consistent role in enhancing Dubai’s community landscape.
Rizwan Sajan described the mosque as a gesture of appreciation to the UAE and a reflection of the Group’s commitment to creating spaces that bring people together. He emphasized that the masjid is intended not only for prayer but also as a hub for connection and shared values, while expressing gratitude to Dubai Silicon Oasis authorities for facilitating the project through land allocation and support.
The Rizwan Askerali Sajan Masjid will become the fifth mosque developed under Danube Group’s pledge, building on a portfolio of four completed mosques already serving communities across the country. The latest addition is expected to carry forward the Group’s focus on accessibility, thoughtful design, and community relevance.
Alongside delivering 41 real estate projects, Danube Group continues to expand its corporate social responsibility footprint through initiatives aimed at social development and public wellbeing. Once completed, the new mosque is anticipated to serve as a central place of worship for residents, professionals, and visitors in Dubai Silicon Oasis, reinforcing the UAE’s enduring values of unity, generosity, and faith.
