Dubai: Western Digital has unveiled the relaunch of its G-DRIVE® brand, positioning it as the single identity for its range of external storage solutions tailored to content creators and creative professionals.
The move consolidates a variety of high-capacity, high-performance storage products under the well-recognized G-DRIVE® name — a brand long associated with durability, speed, and dependable performance in creative workflows.
As part of the transition, the familiar G-DRIVE® identity and its distinctive “G” logo will replace the SanDisk Professional branding across Western Digital’s creator-focused storage lineup. This includes desktop and portable drives as well as multi-bay RAID systems designed to handle demanding creative tasks such as high-resolution photography, video production, graphic design, and audio engineering.
Industry observers note that the unified branding aims to streamline the product portfolio while reinforcing recognition among users ranging from individual creators to large production studios. G-DRIVE® solutions are designed to support the full content creation lifecycle — from on-set capture and real-time editing to secure backup and post-production workflows. Western Digital confirmed that products currently carrying the SanDisk Professional label will be rebranded under G-DRIVE® by the end of the month.
Commenting on the announcement, Darrin Bulik, Director of Product Management at Western Digital, said the G-DRIVE name has become closely tied to reliable, high-capacity storage for creators at every level. He added that consolidating the portfolio under a trusted brand allows the company to preserve that legacy while integrating its latest storage innovations to better support evolving creative demands.
The refreshed lineup introduces several key solutions, including the rugged G-DRIVE ArmorATD portable drive with shock resistance and IP54 dust- and water-protection for mobile workflows, and the desktop G-DRIVE model offering enterprise-class Ultrastar® HDD capacity of up to 26TB for workstation-based editing and archiving.
Also featured are the G-DRIVE PROJECT single-bay Thunderbolt® 3 desktop system for intensive workloads, the compact G-RAID PROJECT 2 two-bay RAID configuration delivering enhanced post-production performance, and the transportable G-RAID SHUTTLE 4 and SHUTTLE 8 arrays designed for on-set data management and multi-camera productions with capacities reaching up to 208TB.
Western Digital emphasized that existing SanDisk Professional hard-drive products will continue to receive full warranty and support coverage during and after the transition, while newly branded G-DRIVE® products have already begun shipping globally.
The brand refresh follows Western Digital’s corporate restructuring in February 2025, when the company separated into a standalone HDD business. Alongside the G-DRIVE initiative, Western Digital will continue to market its established HDD portfolio, including WD Gold® for enterprise environments, WD Purple® for smart video applications, WD Red® for NAS systems, WD Blue® for everyday computing, and WD_BLACK® for gaming performance.
The relaunch signals Western Digital’s renewed focus on delivering specialized storage solutions for the growing creator economy while strengthening brand clarity across its professional product ecosystem.
