Why the Nissan Patrol Continues to Win People’s Trust

Dubai, UAE – The Nissan Patrol from Arabian Automobiles has achieved what almost no vehicle ever has: becoming symbolic of a country’s identity. It’s an association that was earned through uncompromising capability.  Decades proving itself across desert terrain, punishing conditions, situations where mechanical reliability was non-negotiable.

The 1950s was a time most automakers spent perfecting passenger vehicles for urban settings, and building a machine that could power through unforgiving desert terrain was daunting, almost unthinkable. The Patrol arrived, and established itself as a symbol of fearlessness and adventure. It won the people’s trust, and was a constant through the country’s evolution.

What’s truly remarkable is what followed in the decades after. As the UAE urbanized, as highways connected cities and a sprawling network of roads began to take shape, the Patrol embraced the country’s growth and evolved alongside it. It became quieter, more refined, more premium, but it never stopped being capable at a moment’s notice. It’s the duality that has always defined the Patrol’s relevance here.

The introduction of Adaptive Air Suspension on the new Patrol V6T Platinum, PRO-4X, and NISMO variants represents the most significant progression of this philosophy.

Monday through Friday

During the typical weekday, the Patrol spends most of its time doing domestic things. School runs, commutes through congested streets, parking at shopping centers. Piloting a similarly-sized vehicle built for extreme conditions sounds challenging in these scenarios and yet, Nissan’s flagship SUV emphatically remains the daily driving choice for many.

The Adaptive Air Suspension automatically lowers the vehicle when parked, reducing the step-in height without requiring the driver to remember a button press or setting. It’s a small intervention with disproportionate impact on daily usability, particularly for families with children or older passengers.

When Distance Matters

Driving in the UAE involves regular high-speed highway travel, often sustained over hours. Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah to Fujairah, weekend trips to the North. In many instances, these journeys are fundamental to how people live and work here. Fatigue becomes a real consideration on longer drives, particularly when passengers are involved.

At higher speeds, the Patrol’s Adaptive Air Suspension automatically transitions to Aero Mode, lowering the vehicle to improve aerodynamics and stability. A subtle shift that makes the vehicle feel more planted, while also reducing wind resistance and marginally improving fuel efficiency.

Beyond the Asphalt

This is where the Patrol’s engineering was born to set it apart. Desert driving, camping trips, and spontaneous exploration beyond paved roads is the SUV’s lifeblood. The system raises the vehicle by approximately 50mm in Off-Road Mode, improving ground clearance and approach angles without requiring any preparation or modification. The transition from tarmac to sand is seamless.

More importantly, the e-Damper technology adapts damping in real-time to handle the unpredictable surface variations of off-road terrain, maintaining traction and composure. Simply put, the Patrol adjusts its behaviour to match the conditions, allowing owners to move between environments without thinking about the technology enabling it.

Braced for Every Day

The truth about real ownership is being prepared for life’s unpredictability. That means accommodating different passenger counts and loads for different situations. The Patrol dutifully hauls families, luggage, equipment, and anything else it’s required to.

Traditional suspension systems compromise here, either feeling too soft when lightly loaded or too harsh when carrying weight. The adaptive system adjusts automatically to maintain consistent ride quality and handling regardless of load, which again removes a layer of thinking from the ownership experience.

Arabian Automobiles Company’s Perspective

For Arabian Automobiles Company (AAC), the flagship company of AW Rostamani Group and the exclusive dealer for Nissan in Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates, the introduction of Adaptive Air Suspension reinforces something the organisation has understood for decades: the Patrol’s success in the UAE comes from understanding the people who live here, and answering their needs before they ask.

The all-new Patrol line-up, including variants equipped with Adaptive Air Suspension, is available now through Arabian Automobiles Company showrooms across Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
