Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi has introduced a new round-the-clock mental health support line, giving residents a direct and confidential way to speak to trained professionals whenever they need help.
The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the emirate’s healthcare regulator, announced the activation of the 800-SAKINA hotline in collaboration with Sakina, a specialist mental health network under SEHA, a subsidiary of PureHealth.
Available 24/7, the service provides psychological first aid and immediate access to qualified mental health specialists. Support is offered in Arabic and English, with dedicated assistance for children and families, ensuring the hotline is accessible to the wider community.
Residents can reach out for a range of concerns, including anxiety, panic, stress, sleep difficulties, or any other mental health challenges. People already living with mental health conditions can also call for guidance on coping during periods of heightened stress, uncertainty, or change.
Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, said the hotline is designed to ensure support is available whenever it’s needed. “By activating the 800-SAKINA hotline, we are ensuring that every member of our community has timely, trusted mental health support,” she said, adding that help is available “around the clock” and that “no concern is too small to discuss.”
Health officials said the hotline is intended to offer a safe space for anyone feeling overwhelmed—whether they are long-time residents or newcomers to Abu Dhabi—reinforcing the message that nobody should have to face their worries alone.
The move reflects Abu Dhabi’s wider focus on strengthening an integrated health system that supports both physical and mental wellbeing, grounded in preventive, personalised and community-centred care.
DoH also encouraged residents to take practical steps to protect their mental health, including maintaining regular routines, staying connected with loved ones, limiting exposure to unverified or distressing news, and seeking support early when needed. The 800-SAKINA hotline is among several services available across the emirate to ensure help remains within reach.
