Dubai, UAE – The countdown has begun for the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, part of the inaugural DP World Tour Play-Offs, set to take place at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 14-17. The event promises high-stakes competition and world-class entertainment, drawing a stellar lineup of elite golfers and golf enthusiasts alike.
A press conference held today by the Dubai Sports Council brought together top officials and athletes to discuss the upcoming event, which is anticipated to attract record-breaking crowds. Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, emphasized Dubai’s commitment to hosting premier sporting events, highlighting that Dubai is recognized as a preferred global destination for golf. Last year’s DP World Tour Championship saw 79,000 spectators, the highest attendance to date, with millions more tuning in via television and digital platforms worldwide.
“Dubai includes the most beautiful and finest golf courses, and has an extensive range of attractions, from luxury accommodations to efficient transportation systems. These factors make the city an ideal location for tournaments, creating an unforgettable experience for players and fans,” said His Excellency Saeed Hareb.
Tom Phillips, Director of Middle East for the DP World Tour, echoed the excitement, noting that the tournament marks the finale of the DP World Tour Play-Offs and has become a fixture on the golfing calendar. “With this year’s event forming part of the first-ever DP World Tour Play-Offs, there is an added level of anticipation. We have a superb line-up of players, and we look forward to welcoming spectators to Jumeirah Golf Estates once again for what promises to be a remarkable event,” he said.
Among the esteemed players in attendance was Ewen Ferguson, a three-time DP World Tour titleholder, who expressed his eagerness to compete. “The DP World Tour Championship is a highlight on the calendar, and one I always want to be involved in. The tournament will feature the top 50 ranked players in the DP World Tour Race to Dubai Rankings, all competing on the renowned Earth course, known for its pristine conditions and challenging layout.
