Saeed Memon Appointed Secretary of Sindh Commission for Protection of Journalists

Karachi, Sindh – The Sindh Commission for the Protection of Journalists and Other Media Practitioners (SCPJMP) has officially appointed Saeed Memon as its Secretary. The formal notification was issued today by the Information Department of the Government of Sindh.

The Commission, established under the Sindh Journalists Protection Act of 2021, is committed to ensuring the safety and security of journalists across the province. It stands as the first initiative of its kind in Pakistan, highlighting Sindh’s dedication to safeguarding media professionals and upholding freedom of the press.

Mr. Saeed Memon, a distinguished Chevening scholar, Civil Servant, and Sussex graduate in Governance, Development, and Public Policy, brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Throughout his career, Mr. Memon has influenced policy processes across various government departments, particularly in the fields of information, culture, tourism, and working with indigenous communities in Pakistan. He is also a Gold Medalist in Masters of International Relations from GC University Faisalabad. He recently completed a short course from the University of Cambridge on the Paris Agreement, Sustainable Development, and Environmental Governance. A regular contributor to local media and a public speaker, Mr. Memon is fluent in Sindhi, Urdu/Hindi, English, and a little German.

In his role as Secretary, Mr. Memon is expected to advance the Commission’s mission to protect journalists and media practitioners while fostering an environment that encourages free and responsible journalism. The Sindh Commission is committed to implementing meaningful measures for the protection, welfare, and capacity building of media professionals. This appointment marks a significant step forward in reinforcing its mission and ensuring that the voices of journalists remain safeguarded.
