Securing the Global Stage: Dubai Police Organises Events Security Course for Partners

Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Police has organised a specialised event security course catering to public and private sectors intending to disseminate a culture of event security among partners.

The three-day course was organised by the VIP Protection Department in collaboration with the General Department of Training, per the directives of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief, and the follow-up of Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs. 

Taking place at the Meydan Hotel in Dubai, the course kicked off in the presence of Brigadier Ahmad bin Mardas, Deputy Director of the General Department of Training, in the presence of Colonel Issa Hamza Ahli, Director of the VIP Protection Department, alongside a number of officers and representatives from 11 governmental and private entities. 

In his opening speech, Brigadier Ahmad bin Mardas stressed the significance of this initiative in coordinating efforts and enhancing the exchange of experiences across all stakeholders in various events, thereby contributing to event management and organisation at the highest level. He indicated that the course’s relevance stems from Dubai being a global destination for hosting the most important and prominent international events, thus requiring a continuous state of readiness from all work teams.

Brig. bin Mardas went on to say that the course aims to develop the efficiency and capabilities of security personnel and partners from different sectors involved in events security. He explained that participants would be equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle challenges and meet all event venues’ security and safety requirements.

Colonel Issa Hamza Ahli affirmed the course aims to instil a “culture of event security” among Dubai Police’s internal and external partners. Additionally, it seeks to educate on dealing with challenges arising from events management, notifying relevant authorities, and familiarising all partners with their roles to foster increased cooperation among all teams involved in event organisation and security.

Colonel Ahli elaborated that the course’s agenda includes:

  • Discussions on the mechanism of securing events.
  • Explaining basics and protocols of dealing with diplomats.
  • Providing explanations about security procedures.

Furthermore, the course introduce handling fire emergencies, executing evacuation plans at events, and managing crowds.
