Dubai, UAE – Brighton College Dubai marked another successful sporting milestone at the third annual Brighton College Junior Golf Open, held on Sunday, April 13th at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club. The event brought together 58 young golfers from across the UAE, including 10 pupils from the College, for a day of competitive play and skill-building.
Open to junior amateur golfers aged 10 to 19 with valid Emirates Golf Federation handicaps, the tournament followed an 18-hole Individual Stroke Play format, with Net and Gross divisions across various age groups. This year’s edition featured particularly close competition, concluding with double playoffs in both the Boys and Girls Gross Divisions.
Brighton College Dubai pupils delivered strong performances. George Wylie placed second in the Boys Net Division B (Age 10–13), demonstrating skill and consistency throughout his round. Thomas Wylie earned second place in the Boys Net Division A (Age 14+), finishing just short of the top spot in a tightly contested category. Jameel Choudry added to the school’s success by winning Closest to the Pin on Hole 17 in the Boys Division.
The tournament was hosted in partnership with Arabian Ranches Golf Club, offering an ideal venue and professional playing conditions for the young athletes. A 95% full-course handicap was applied to ensure a fair playing field for all participants.
Simon Crane, Head Master at Brighton College Dubai said: “We are proud to see our pupils continuing to perform at a high level and representing the College so well. Through our ongoing partnership with Arabian Ranches Golf Club, we’re able to provide pupils with opportunities like the Junior Golf Open — a fantastic way for them to challenge themselves, grow through sport, and build confidence in a competitive yet supportive environment.”
The event concluded with an awards ceremony at the Golf Club, where pupils, families, and school representatives came together to acknowledge the day’s achievements.
Now firmly established as a key fixture in the College’s sports calendar, the Brighton College Junior Golf Open reinforces the school’s commitment to developing well-rounded pupils who pursue excellence both academically and beyond the classroom.
