Dubai, UAE – Dubai’s ports experienced a significant surge in travel during the recent Eid Al-Adha holiday, handling a total of 629,559 arriving and departing passengers between June 5th and June 8th, 2025. The figures, released by the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, underscore the city’s continued role as a major global transit and residential hub.

As expected, Dubai International Airport (DXB) bore the brunt of the traffic, accommodating a staggering 581,527 travellers – representing the vast majority of the total movement.

Land travel also saw substantial activity, with 46,863 passengers passing through the Hatta border post. Meanwhile, the emirate’s maritime ports handled 1,169 travellers during the four-day holiday period.

Major General Talal Al-Shanqeeti, Assistant Director General of the Air Ports Sector at GDRFA Dubai, highlighted the significance of the numbers. “These figures reflect Dubai’s steadily growing position as a preferred travel hub for passengers from around the world,” he stated. Al-Shanqeeti credited this success to “seamless coordination on the ground and the activation of smart systems across all entry points.”

He emphasized the authority’s focus on passenger experience: “We have made it a priority to ensure a seamless travel experience through smart gates and artificial intelligence technologies, which have contributed to speeding up procedures and improving the flow of movement.” He further noted that enhancing the travel journey aligns with Dubai’s commitment to quality of life and the government’s approach to “providing flexible services that meet individuals’ expectations.”

The GDRFA attributed the smooth handling of the peak travel period to effective collaboration and integrated coordination with strategic partners in the aviation and border sectors. This “institutional readiness,” operating within a “flexible work environment that keeps pace with innovation,” was cited as crucial for managing exceptional travel seasons with high efficiency.

The authority positioned this success as a model reflecting Dubai’s strategy to boost its competitiveness on global quality of life and international mobility indicators by delivering fast, smart, and secure travel services.
