Dubai: Emirates Nature-WWF has unveiled Sprint for Change, a dynamic summer initiative encouraging UAE residents to take meaningful steps for nature and climate. Aligned with the Year of Community, the programme blends online workshops, field visits, and community challenges to address the triple planetary crisis—climate change, plastic pollution, and biodiversity loss.
Hosted under the NGO’s Leaders of Change platform, Sprint for Change welcomes individuals, families, and professionals to explore sustainability through interactive activities. Arabella Willing, Head of Conservation Outreach at Emirates Nature-WWF, emphasized inclusivity: “Real impact starts with people. Whether someone is well-established in their sustainability journey or newly inspired by the Year of Community, Sprint for Change provides a powerful gateway to environmental action. This year, we’re introducing exciting new experiences — from the in-person Herbarium workshop to independent citizen science projects you can do from home — ensuring that every participant is inspired, informed, and ready to make a difference.”

- 3 Online Workshops: A Climate Simulator to model future scenarios, an Eco-Footprint session, and a Pollinator Gardening tutorial.
- 3 In-Person Events: Behind-the-scenes tours at Ecyclex recycling facility, a Herbarium workshop, and a Climate Fresk discussion.
- 3 Community Challenges: Tracking native sapling growth, home plastic audits, and collecting climate hope stories.
Participants will also access Conservation Diaries, a mini-documentary series featuring UAE conservation efforts, followed by live Q&As with experts. Those completing two-thirds of the programme earn a certificate and gain skills for future citizen science projects.

The Leaders of Change Community Advisory Committee will empower active members (contributing 24+ volunteer hours) to influence the programme’s future. Selected projects may even be showcased at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi later this year.
- Open to: Leaders of Change members (from AED 75/month).
- Dates: Online sessions start 17 June; in-person events on 21 June, 19 July, and 9 August.
Sprint for Change builds on last year’s success, which engaged over 1,000 participants. By fostering hands-on action, Emirates Nature-WWF aims to strengthen community-led conservation in the UAE.
