Abu Dhabi – The prestigious UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses continues its European tour with a landmark debut at Germany’s historic 156th German Derby in Hamburg tomorrow, Sunday, July 6. Held at Horner Rennbahn, the €250,000 Listed race (1600m) for 4-year-old and older WAHO-registered Arabian horses marks the seventh stop of the 32nd edition of the celebrated series.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, the event reinforces the UAE’s global leadership in promoting Arabian horse racing and bloodlines.

A Milestone for Arabian Horse Racing

Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the President’s Cup Series, hailed the German debut as a testament to the competition’s growing prestige.

“The UAE President’s Cup making its debut at Germany’s historic Derby highlights the UAE’s global leadership and exceptional commitment to Arabian horse racing,” he said. “We take pride in our expanding success across Europe; the participation of top-tier horses confirms the prestige and significance of this event.”

The inclusion of the race in Germany’s premier racing festival underscores efforts to align with Europe’s elite competitions while fostering international interest in Purebred Arabian horses.

Six elite horses will compete in the 1600m Listed race, featuring entries from France, Qatar, and the Netherlands:

  2. Al Zeer (FR) – 5YO gelding (Owner: Mohamed Fahad Al Attiyah / Trainer: François Rohaut / Jockey: Adrie de Vries)
  3. Djafar (FR) – 8YO gelding (Owner: Abubaker S.A. Kadoura / Trainer: François Rohaut / Jockey: Augustin Madamet)
  4. Al Wakrah (FR) – 7YO gelding (Owner: Al Shaqab Racing / Trainer: Jean-Loup de Mieulle / Jockey: Oliver d’Andigne)
  5. Al Zwair (FR) – 5YO gelding (Owner: Al Shaqab Racing / Trainer: Jean-Loup de Mieulle / Jockey: Faleh Bughenaim)
