Dubai, UAE – Union Coop has reported exceptional financial and operational results for the first half of 2025, with a net profit of AED 173.6 million, marking a 6.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The retail giant’s performance was bolstered by a strategic expansion of its physical footprint, advancements in digital services, and a focus on enhancing the customer experience.
According to Mohamed Al Hashemi, Union Coop’s CEO, the cooperative’s net profit after tax reached AED 173.6 million for the first six months of the year, up from AED 163.14 million in H1 2024. Profit before tax stood at AED 192 million.
The cooperative’s total income reached AED 1.158 billion, with retail sales contributing AED 1.031 billion, real estate income at AED 88 million, and other income at AED 39 million.
Al Hashemi highlighted the cooperative’s strong second-quarter performance, noting a 13% profit growth compared to the same period last year. He attributed this success to the efficiency of Union Coop’s operational strategy. The company also saw significant growth in its customer base, with new customers increasing by 30% and online sales growing by 24%.
“In the first half of this year, we expanded our footprint with the opening of one new mall and three new stores in Al Khawaneej, Nad Al Sheba, and Rukan Community, designed to the highest standards to cater to a wider audience,” said Al Hashemi.
Union Coop continued to innovate, introducing ‘Scan&Go’ services in two stores and ‘Check&Go’ facilities in seven stores to provide faster and more convenient checkout options for shoppers.
The cooperative also reinforced its commitment to community empowerment and diversity, achieving a 35% Emiratization rate and recruiting 80 National Service members across its branches. The company’s workforce includes 721 women, reflecting its dedication to gender inclusion.
