Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Police has recently welcomed a delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Laboratory in the United States of America. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange expertise and learn about the Dubai Police’s best practices in the field of forensics.
The delegation was welcomed by Major General Ahmed Thani Al Ghalaitah Al Muhairi, Director of the General Department of Forensics and Criminology, in the presence of Brigadier Maki Suleiman, Deputy Director of the General Department of Forensics and Criminology for Technical Affairs, and Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Rashid Hamdan Al Ghafri, Director of the International Centre for Forensic Sciences (ICFS), along with several other high-ranking officers.
Knowledge Exchange
Major General Al Muhairi emphasized Dubai Police’s commitment to fostering communication bridges and sharing knowledge, expertise, and best practices across various fields to benefit the policing work.
The American delegation was introduced to the General Department of Forensics and Criminology departments and divisions and received a comprehensive brief on the best practices, initiatives, ongoing and future projects, as well as the latest research, publications, and cutting-edge genetic fingerprint analysis techniques.
ICFS
The FBI Laboratory delegation also visited the International Centre for Forensic Sciences (ICFS), where they were briefed on the centre’s role in supporting forensics research at both regional and international levels. They also learned about the centre’s training courses, which cover all specialties in the field of forensics and are available to participants from various academic, industrial, and service sectors.
The delegation was also informed about the centre’s contributions to international events and its high-level courses, available to individuals from different fields involved in criminal evidence, including academia, industry, and services.
Toward the end of the visit, the FBI delegation expressed their great admiration for Dubai Police’s advanced level of expertise in forensics.
As a gesture of appreciation, Maj. Gen. Al Muhairi presented the delegation with a commemorative shield from Dubai Police to mark the visit.
