Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) is set to celebrate Emirati Women’s Day on August 27 with a special walk and run event at The Dubai Mall, as part of the ongoing ‘Dubai Mallathon’ initiative. The event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, is a community-wide activity open to women of all nationalities and fitness levels.
The occasion is a national tribute to the sustained achievements of Emirati women over the past five decades. It reinforces the UAE’s vision of fostering national solidarity and affirming women’s essential role as partners in the country’s development. This year’s celebration is held under the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” and is themed “Hand in Hand, Celebrating 50 years,” marking the 50th anniversary of the General Women’s Union.

Supporting Women in Sports
The DSC has a strong focus on empowering female participation in sports. Its annual calendar features numerous programs and tournaments dedicated to women, which have successfully attracted a large number of participants, from students to homemakers. This effort aims to build a broad base of female athletes, creating a talent pipeline for club teams and national squads capable of winning titles on various stages.

Dubai Mallathon: A Community Initiative
The ‘Dubai Mallathon’ initiative extends beyond The Dubai Mall, with activities held daily at nine of Dubai’s leading shopping destinations. These include Dubai Hills Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Marina Mall, The Springs Souk, Dubai Festival City Mall, and Festival Plaza.

To encourage community participation, safe, fully equipped indoor routes have been designated for walking and running. The routes are open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. throughout the rest of August, allowing residents to integrate physical activity into their daily routines.
