Dubai, UAE – The United Arab Emirates has rolled out four new visit visa categories, aiming to draw specialists in high-demand sectors such as artificial intelligence, entertainment, and tourism. This initiative is a key part of the nation’s strategy to solidify its standing as a premier global hub for innovation and travel.
New Visa Categories and Entry Regulations
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) announced several significant amendments to the country’s entry permit regulations. These changes include the introduction of a new humanitarian residence permit, which is valid for one year and can be renewed at the ICP’s discretion, subject to specific criteria.
In a move to offer greater legal stability, the ICP has also made it possible for foreign widows and divorcees to secure a one-year residence permit, with potential for renewal under defined conditions.
Family and Business Visas
Further amendments to the visa system include new provisions for family and business visitors. Sponsors can now invite relatives up to the third degree on a visit visa, provided they meet certain income requirements.
A new business exploration visa will also be available for individuals who can show they have the financial means to start a company, own a share in an existing foreign business, or have a demonstrated history of professional practice. Additionally, a new truck driver visa will be issued to applicants with a sponsor and the necessary health and financial guarantees.
Visa Conditions and Transparency
The ICP stressed that each visa type will now have a clearly defined duration of stay and specific rules for extensions. This effort to ensure transparency and predictability is designed to streamline the application process for those looking to live, work, or visit the UAE.
