Dubai, UAE – Dubai’s Al Zahiya Hall buzzed with the timeless beauty of Urdu on Saturday, October 11, 2025, as the Applause Adab Mushaira 2025 held its fourth annual gathering, cementing its reputation as one of the Emirate’s most anticipated cultural evenings. The event, presented by HBL and Sharaf Exchange, drew the Urdu-loving community for a spellbinding night of poetry, pride, and cultural harmony.
The poetic assembly, held at the Dubai Women’s Association, once again reaffirmed the vital role of Urdu verse in connecting diverse communities.
Distinguished Guests and Corporate Commitment
The event was graced by high-profile figures, with renowned Emirati businessman and Guinness World Record holder Suhail Muhammad Al Zarooni attending as the Chief Guest, lending his support for cross-cultural arts. Esteemed literary figure A. Rehman joined as the Special Guest, elevating the evening’s intellectual atmosphere.
Speaking on the occasion, Imad ul Malik, CEO of Sharaf Exchange, highlighted the company’s commitment to culture as a key pillar of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.
“Applause Adab directly connects to the South Asian community and spreads love, happiness,” Malik said, adding that the event also emphasized the importance of legal money transfer channels. “The overwhelming response… motivates us to continue nurturing the love for Urdu and literature in the UAE and keep all the communities together.”

Malik noted that Applause Adab serves as a global platform, bringing together established and emerging voices from the UAE, UK, Ireland, India, and Pakistan to share messages of hope and humanity.

Honoring a Guardian of Urdu
The evening’s host, Tarannum Ahmed, guided the proceedings, which included the presentation of the prestigious “Mohsin-e-Urdu (محسن اردو)” Award.
This year’s honour was presented to Rehan Khan, founder of Bazm-e-Urdu Dubai, a well-recognized NGO under the Community Development Authority (CDA). The award recognized Khan’s tireless and selfless efforts in promoting Urdu literature throughout the UAE. Though currently based in Canada, Khan continues to lead the Bazm-e-Urdu team, noted as the most active Urdu cultural organization in the Emirates.
Stellar Poetry Captivates Audience
The Mushaira was chaired by legendary poet Dr. Waseem Barelvi, whose dignified presence and timeless verse added a deep emotional dimension to the night. The Nizamat (anchoring) was deftly handled by Living Legend Mansoor Usmani.

The impressive lineup of featured poets captivated the packed audience with their unique voices and thought-provoking verses. The roster included Tahir Faraz, Shaukat Fehmi, Ahmed Salman, Aqeel Nomani, Jawwad Sheikh, Nadeem Shad, Saleem Siddiqui, Amir Ameer, Renu Nayyar, Shadab Ulfat, and Faiz Khalilabadi.
From moments of laughter to tears, the evening showcased the universal power of poetry to unite hearts across cultures and borders, with attendees rating it as one of the best Dubai Mushairas.
