Abu Dhabi, UAE – Nestled in the heart of Al Ain, the UAE’s famed “Garden City,” the Al Ain Zoo continues to enchant visitors with its rich blend of wildlife, heritage and conservation. Home to more than 4,000 animals, it remains one of the oldest and largest zoos in the Middle East — a living legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s vision to protect and preserve the nation’s diverse wildlife.
Established in 1968 by the Father of the Nation, the Zoo has evolved over 55 years into a world-class destination that combines education, conservation and adventure. Today, it stands as a sanctuary where families can connect with nature, learn about endangered species, and create cherished memories together.
From the thrill of feeding giraffes and meeting the desert eagle owl up close to watching playful lemurs and chatting with animal care experts, every corner of the Zoo offers an opportunity for discovery. Starting November 1, 2025, visitors can look forward to the grand opening of the new gorilla sanctuary, along with the reopening of the hippo and crocodile exhibits — key highlights in the Zoo’s continued expansion and commitment to animal welfare.

For those seeking a deeper encounter, the Al Ain Safari promises a breathtaking journey across diverse landscapes. Led by expert conservationists, the 45-minute guided safari for up to six guests offers an immersive look into wildlife care and protection.
At the core of the Zoo’s educational mission is the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre, an award-winning hub that engages visitors with interactive exhibits and immersive displays focusing on sustainability and biodiversity. Adding to the evening charm, the Heritage Show, a spectacular projection mapping experience, lights up the façade of the Centre every day at 6:30 PM, narrating stories that celebrate the UAE’s natural and cultural legacy.
Beyond public attractions, Al Ain Zoo continues to play a vital role in breeding programs, conservation research and international partnerships, contributing to global efforts to protect endangered species.

The Zoo welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. General admission is AED 31.50 for adults, AED 10.50 for children aged 3 to 12, and free for children under 3. The private Al Ain Safari experience is available for AED 1,050 per vehicle.
With its blend of discovery, education and fun, Al Ain Zoo remains a symbol of the UAE’s enduring commitment to wildlife conservation and an unforgettable destination for all ages.
