Major Abdullah Al Shehhi, Deputy Director of Anti-Cybercrime at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, expressed that the enormous numbers of professionals, attendees, and amateur participants in this edition reflect the importance of such activities. He emphasised that these events foster good competition and communication among participants and reinforce the significance of maintaining physical and mental health among gamers by advocating moderation in gaming.
Al Shehhi further added that the tournament was graced with the support and presence of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, who consistently highlights the importance of activities that support and optimally engage youth, particularly during holidays.
“We made sure to emphasise awareness about the importance of privacy, not sharing personal information or photos with strangers during in-game chats, as well as common cybercrimes related to gaming. This includes highlighting safe online financial transactions, potentially related crimes, and the risks of drugs and psychotropic substances on human health,” Al Shehhi said.
The Dubai Police Esports Tournament was sponsored by the Dubai Police ‘Esaad’ Privilege Card Centre and organised in collaboration with Que Club, Four04, UAE Smashers, and Teleoise.
