Abu Dhabi, UAE: Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the National Library and Archives (NLA), celebrated the graduation of the 16th cohort of professionals from its Professional Certificate in Archives and Records Management programme. The ceremony was held at the NLA headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The latest cohort comprised professionals from various archival institutions who successfully completed the intensive training programme designed to enhance national expertise in records management and archival preservation.
Dr. Hamad Al Mutairi, Acting Executive Director of the National Library and Archives, commended the graduates for their achievements, noting that each new cohort reinforces the programme’s reputation as a leading academic and professional platform in the field.
“The Professional Certificate in Archives and Records Management reflects the NLA’s commitment to developing human capital and elevating professional standards in this vital sector,” Dr. Al Mutairi said. “The programme has become a recognised benchmark for assessing excellence and skill in archival science.”
He also expressed appreciation for Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi’s academic partnership and congratulated the graduates, expressing confidence in their ability to adapt to advancements in digital archiving and global standards for preserving the nation’s documentary heritage.
Professor Nathalie Martial-Braz, Chancellor of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, also addressed the graduates, praising their commitment and the dedication of faculty members who delivered high-quality instruction throughout the programme.
“This achievement reflects the shared vision of both institutions in nurturing specialised national talent capable of advancing archival and records management practices in the UAE,” she said.
The ceremony, held in the Liwa Hall at the NLA headquarters, concluded with the distribution of certificates to the graduates in the presence of officials, representatives from both institutions, and professionals from the archival and records management sectors.
