Dubai: Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah has been officially awarded the internationally recognised Green Key certification, marking a major milestone in the resort’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable hospitality.

The globally respected eco-label is presented to hotels and tourism establishments that demonstrate outstanding performance in environmental management, resource conservation and sustainable operations. The certification places Rixos Al Mairid among an elite group of hospitality leaders advancing responsible tourism in the UAE.

Situated along one of the country’s longest private beaches, the ultra all-inclusive resort has embedded sustainability into every aspect of its guest experience, balancing luxury coastal living with environmentally conscious operations.

“This achievement is a testament to our team’s dedication to responsible hospitality,” said Sherif Kasseb, General Manager of Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah. “We are privileged to operate in such a beautiful natural setting, and with that comes the responsibility to protect it. Green Key is not just a certificate on the wall; it reflects the daily decisions we make, from managing resources to inspiring our guests and colleagues to adopt more mindful choices.”

The Green Key programme evaluates properties on strict criteria, including energy and water efficiency, waste management, eco-friendly procurement, staff training, guest engagement and community support.

At Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah, sustainability initiatives include the gradual shift to energy-efficient lighting and equipment, optimisation of HVAC systems, and continuous monitoring of consumption to reduce environmental impact. The resort also places strong emphasis on water stewardship, implementing responsible usage practices across guest rooms, kitchens, pools and landscaping.

Waste reduction remains a core priority, with enhanced recycling systems, waste segregation, reduced single-use plastics, and partnerships with approved recycling and waste management providers. Sustainable sourcing is reinforced through collaboration with environmentally responsible suppliers, including the use of eco-certified guest amenities and materials.

“Our vision is to make sustainability feel natural, seamless and inspiring,” said Yara El Husseini, Quality & Sustainability Manager. “From thoughtful design choices to behind-the-scenes processes, every department plays a role. The Green Key certification motivates us to keep raising the bar and embedding sustainable thinking into every future project, experience and partnership.”

With the certification now secured, Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah plans to continue strengthening its environmental programmes, ensuring each guest stay contributes positively not only to lasting memories, but also to the long-term wellbeing of the destination.
