Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority (DECCA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Domus Group, a leading events and conferences specialist in vertical aviation solutions and drone technologies, to strengthen the use of advanced aviation systems in support of environmental sustainability.

The agreement focuses on knowledge exchange and encouraging local and international companies to introduce innovative drone technologies that enhance environmental protection and climate action in Dubai. The MoU aligns with DECCA’s strategic priorities to advance environmental research and innovation, while embedding advanced technologies into evidence-based decision-making.

Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Director General of DECCA, highlighted the growing importance of technology in environmental action. He noted that drone solutions can significantly support biodiversity conservation, Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems, food security, and sustainable agriculture. He added that Dubai’s proactive approach to advanced technologies, supported by a clear operational framework under the Unmanned Aircrafts Law, positions drone technologies as a key enabler of the Emirate’s environmental vision.

Maysoon Abu Alhoul, Managing Director of Domus Group, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to reinforcing Dubai’s global leadership in technology adoption. She expressed confidence that the drone sector will unlock new opportunities to support environmental protection, in line with Dubai’s strong commitment to sustainability.

Drone technologies have demonstrated high effectiveness in environmental monitoring and protection, offering high-precision surveys and detailed mapping of mangroves, seagrass, coastal habitats, and desert and mountain reserves. These capabilities support restoration initiatives, air-quality analysis, plume tracking, carbon sink assessment, shoreline mapping, marine sampling, and enhanced monitoring and enforcement against environmental violations.

The collaboration is expected to accelerate the adoption of tailored drone solutions that meet Dubai’s unique environmental requirements, reinforcing the Emirate’s leadership in innovation-driven environmental stewardship.
