Sheikh Nahyan Attends 2026 FBMA International Show Jumping Cup as Female Riders Triumph

Abu Dhabi, UAE – UAE rider Nadia Taryam emerged as the star of the 13th FBMA International Show Jumping Cup after winning the prestigious FBMA Grand Prix at the new Royal Stables in Abu Dhabi. The women-only competition attracted more than 150 female riders and marked the first equestrian events to be staged at the newly inaugurated indoor venue.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, honoured the winners during the award ceremony, highlighting the UAE’s continued support for women’s sports and equestrian excellence.

The FBMA Grand Prix (140cm) was the highlight of Sunday’s schedule, with Taryam delivering an outstanding performance aboard Gabrielle Sol ‘Heure to secure first place and claim a share of the AED 100,000 prize fund. Syria’s Aya Hamcho finished second, while UAE rider Fatima Al Mulla took third.

Sheikh Nahyan was joined at the ceremony by several dignitaries, including Sheikha Shamsa bint Hasher Al Maktoum, Dr. Mugheer Khamis Alkhaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, Dr. Ahmed Alqubaisi from Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Dr. Omniyat Al-Hajri of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Khouri from the Presidential Court.

Other competitions on the day showcased strong performances across multiple categories. In the One Round Against The Clock (0.90–1.00m), UAE’s Sara Alshaer claimed gold with a fastest time of 39.66 seconds, ahead of Lamya Juma and Joanna Ahmad. Canada’s Setareh Sadeghi won the 1.05–1.10m category, while Ayesha Al Ghurair and South Africa’s Sophay Wille secured silver and bronze respectively.

France’s Tatiana Pouille topped the One Round Against The Clock (1.20–1.25m) event, clocking 53.88 seconds on Cartier Von Der Held DXB. Jessica Black and Beatric Girardi completed the podium. Pouille expressed her joy after the win, describing it as the fulfilment of a dream she had nurtured since competing in the event three years ago.

The final day brought the 13th FBMA International Show Jumping Cup to a close. Organised by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, the event was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” and under the guidance of Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reaffirming Abu Dhabi’s commitment to empowering women in sport and promoting equestrian excellence.
